Technology

Bishop Dunne’s campus network supports an array of devices within school guidelines and security requirements. Our school is a BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology) campus.

Students are encouraged to bring their own familiar technology to access online learning tools and interactive resources. A laptop computer is required for classes as most classes have e-books rather than printed textbooks.

Technology Department Policy

The Technology Department of Bishop Dunne Catholic School strives to teach the proper and ethical use of technology hardware, software and Internet resources for the betterment of the individual and the community. Bishop Dunne works to have a stable network environment that will benefit all involved. These technology resources provide additional tools for the students, faculty and staff to meet and enhance their educational goals.

Internet Use Policy

Internet access is available to students of Bishop Dunne Catholic School. The Internet enables worldwide connection to electronic mail, discussion groups, software, and other information users such as libraries and museums. Bishop Dunne provides Internet access to promote educational excellence by facilitating research, innovation, and communication. Controlling all materials on the Internet is impossible. Sites accessible via the Internet may contain material that is illegal, defamatory, inaccurate or controversial. With global access to computers and people, a risk exists that students may access material that may not be of educational value in the school setting. This risk will be offset as much as possible, by trust, security software, teacher supervision and a security firewall system. The Bishop Dunne administration believes that the valuable information and interaction provided by the Internet far outweigh the possibility that users may procure material that is not consistent with our educational goals. Internet users, such as traditional library users, are responsible for their actions in accessing available resources. All students are taught responsible use of the Internet in all classes.
