First Day of School is August 12!

The first day is August 12, 2019. Students, please be ready for class by 7:45 a.m. at the latest. Be in full uniform and make sure you have all required equipment, supplies and assignments. August 12 is a purple day.

Student schedules will be sent out before class begins.

Drop Off and Pick Up Procedure

Drop Off and Pick Up Procedure

Parents, students, and visitors to Bishop Dunne Catholic School please drive safely and courteously through the school parking lots.

In the morning, drop off is at the front of the building.

To drop students at the front entrance, enter via the south entrance, and proceed along the curb (green lane).

To move away from the curb into traffic flow or to go to the north parking lot, use the middle lane (yellow lane) and yield to cars in the red lane.

The red lane is for through traffic and to exit. Please do not stop in this lane. 

Parents, please do not block the pedestrian crosswalk (shown in black) when dropping off or picking up students.

Cars should only stop along the curb (green lane) to drop off or pick up students. Please do not park there and wait for students. 

For the afternoon pickup, please enter the school via the middle entrance and proceed to the gym entrance to pick up their students. If your student is not there please loop around the north parking lot and rejoin the queue rather than park in the fire lane, blocking traffic and causing lines on Rugged Drive.

Please note the “No Parking” zones and blind spots (shown in light blue) close to the middle entrance. We caution parents from parking on the street, as we do not want students crossing the street into traffic.

Carpool lines are considered part of an active school zone. Handheld cell phone and texting within the active school zones are prohibited in the Dallas metro area. Parents and students who drive must be attentive in school zones at all times and remember the unpredictability of children.

For our Spanish speaking families, there are several faculty and staff members who will be able to discuss school programs with you. There will also be Spanish speaking faculty at parent meetings to further discuss meeting content in Spanish.

Attendance Office

Reporting functionality is moving online.  

Reporting late arrival and/or absence is now done online. Please report either event by 9:00 a.m. each day of your child's exception event. Each child must be reported independently.  Details of the event are noted in the reporting system as well. 

The online reporting system is found at CareMonkey.com in the Form Library. New families will receive an e-mail invitation to make an account soon. This is also the same system that we will use for field trip permission forms and to keep track of emergency contact and medical information.

School Uniforms

Bishop Dunne's school uniforms are provided by Risse Brothers’ School Uniforms. 

Uniforms are easily purchased three ways:
1. Onsite at the Bishop Dunne campus store. The school is pleased to have a student store onsite, offering uniforms, spirit wear, and assorted school-approved gear. During the school year, the store is open 30 minutes before school starts and 30 minutes after school ends. During the summer, please contact Aurora Owens (aowens@bdcs.org) to confirm store hours.

Label your student's items!

Oliver's Labels for Student Name Labels

It is important that on items brought to school are labeled with the student's name, especially uniform sweaters and blazers. Bishop Dunne has a partnership with Oliver’s Labels to help meet this need and raise money for our school. These labels are laundry safe, dishwasher safe, and will not tear, scuff, or fade. Great for blazers, sweaters, jackets, water bottles, lunch containers, electronics, pretty much anything.

You can order several types and sizes of labels and help to raise funds for our school by ordering from Oliver's Labels, at https://oliverslabels.com/BishopDunneCS.

Custom labels that include a “Found-it” lost and found code for free (https://oliverslabels.com/found) may also be ordered. Labels with “Found-It” codes are printed with a unique I.D. and a web address so you can be notified about your lost item.

20 percent of all sales go directly back to Bishop Dunne.

Bishop Dunne Dads’ Club

Attention all Bishop Dunne dads! The Dads’ Club is looking forward to the 2019-2020 school year and would love to have your support.

Dads’ Club plans events to support the school, student services and athletics and is open to dads of high school and middle school students.

Middle School After School Care

Middle School After School Program Overview 

The After School Care Program: Students enrolled in grades 6 – 8 are bound by different state regulations than older students. Due to their age, Middle School students must be in the direct supervision of an adult at all times. The program runs from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on half days and/or holidays. On half days and/or holidays, there is no After School Care Program and students must be picked up no later than 30 minutes after school lets out. Students who are picked up after 6:00 p.m. or after the 30 minute grace period on half days and holidays will also be charged a $1.00 per minute late fee. 

All middle school students will be enrolled in the After Care Program through the mobile application Kinderlime. Each family will receive an email with their individual login information. Check in, check out, billing, and payments must go through Kinderlime. 

Schedule: 

3:00 – 3:30 p.m. Students will have free time outside of the gym foyer for socializing. 

3:30 – 4:00 p.m. Students will move to the cafeteria for snacks and drinks that they can purchase. 

4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Students will transition to classrooms for quiet study time and to do their homework. 

5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Students will have free time to play games or engage in other social activities. 

Attendance and Student Participation: At 3:00 p.m., students have several options to where they can be. Students can be in practice or clubs where an adult is present. Students can be in tutoring with a teacher. Students can be outside of the gym foyer where there are two adults on duty until 3:30 p.m. Middle school students found in areas of the school without adult supervision, such as wandering the halls will be reported to the office. Repeated offenses can lead to disciplinary actions such as fines and even the loss of after school privileges. 

Fees: The fee for participating in the After School Program is as follows: 

Option 1 $350.00 per semester............Payment due 08/16/2019 

*Option 1 is 100% nonrefundable, and will only be available until 08/16/2019 Parents who fail to register by this day will have to register for option 2 or option 3. New students who enroll after the above date will have to enroll in the program under option 2. Second semester payment due 01/10/20. 

Option 2 (Year long) $80.00 per month ….Payment due the 15th of each month. 

*Option 2 is not subject to prorating for shorter months. Once enrolled you are locked into Option 2 for the semester. 

Option 3 Drop-in Fee $15.00 per day……Payment billed monthly 

*Option 3 is only to be used by students who will not use the After School Program on a regular basis. 

For a family with two middle school students Option 1 and Option 2 are half off for the second student. 

There is no fee for the After School Program from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., all Middle School students will transition into the cafeteria and will be signed in upon arriving. The mobile application Kinderline will be used to sign each student in electronically and is used as an official attendance, and parents will be charged based on their registration options. Students who are signing in as a drop-in will be billed based on attendance. Any Middle School student found in the hallways after 3:30 p.m. will be escorted to the cafeteria/classroom and will be signed in to the program and their parents will be billed for a drop-in fee.
