Please keep in your prayers those members of our community who are going through the difficulties of illness or losing a family member, especially seventh grader, Jocelyn Villarreal, whose grandmother, Paula Cortez, passed away. Interim and Eligibility Reminders On March 9, 2018, the dean of academics will email all families a copy of students' interim grades, a summary of the third quarter of the academic year. Falcon Basketball Update The 8th grade team, led by Coach Kevin Rutland, is undefeated, and the 7th grade boys, led by Coach Bobby Watkins and Coach Jeffrey Jordan, won the DPL Championship.The boys capped off an undefeated season with a thrilling 23-20 win in the championship. Junior Ethan Casas Accepted in Cornell Summer Program Junior Ethan Casas is working on a service project for Window to the Wild, Inc.,an educational organization founded by Lindsey McNeny and Simon McNeny that trains wild birds for public education. Click here to read more. Middle School Participates in PSIA Competition Bishop Dunne middle school students in grades 6 - 8 were invited to tryout to be a member of the math team. Preliminary testing happened before Thanksgiving and the team was named by Christmas break. Click here to read more. Junior Sean Jurek to Study Shakespeare in Italy Sean Jurek, a junior who is a member of the Bishop Dunne Drama Club, will be studying this summer with the University of Dallas Shakespeare in Italy program. Sean will spend three weeks in Rome, with excursions to Venice and Padua. Click here to register. Alumni and Friends Spring Fling We are excited to announce the inaugural Bishop Dunne Alumni and Friends Spring Fling taking place Thursday, April 5, 2018, at The Kessler Theater in Oak Cliff, Texas. Alumni, parents, and friends are all invited to attend! On Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. in the Monsignor Milam J. Joseph Auditorium, the Bishop Dunne Music department will hold its annual Sounds of Bishop Dunne concert. The theme for this year's concert is "Sounds of Childhood" and will feature music filled with energy, happiness, and nostalgia. Hear music from the past, as well as a new nostalgia filled work, "Frogs," by renowned composer Randall Standridge, commissioned by Bishop Dunne and other consortium schools. Featured musicians for this concert include the Bishop Dunne jazz band, all Bishop Dunne concert bands 6 - 12, the Bishop Dunne string orchestras, the Sounds of Bishop Dunne choir, as well as student solos, ensembles, guest musicians, Director of Bands, Daniel Harrelson, on trombone, and more. Falconette Dance Team Auditions There will be a tryout workshop April 3 through 5, 2018, from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., in the multi-purpose room. Auditions will be held Friday, April 6, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., in the gym.
Falconette Informational Meeting for Upcoming Tryouts There will be a mandatory informational meeting for all dancers and parents interested in the upcoming Falconette tryouts. The meeting will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., in the multi-purpose room.
Volleyball Season Opens Volleyball open gym begins this week. For grades 8th -11th, practice is 3:10 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. and 6th - 7th grades from 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Please see flyer for more information.
2017 Yearbooks Have Arrived
The Bishop Dunne yearbook staff is pleased to announce the arrival of the 2017 yearbooks. This extremely beautiful edition contains full color pages and backgrounds with vibrant photos of all team sports and activities at the school. The book also contains links to videos of performances, and slideshows of events like prom and graduation. These books are bargain priced at $30 per copy and can be purchased from Mr. Beattie in room 304. Cash, check, or credit card payments will be accepted. If you are paying with a card, you must arrange payment with the business office in St. Mary's Hall. There is no time like the present to guarantee your son or daughter will always have this snapshot of his or her school years. Get your copy before they are all gone!
