Arts Month Continues!

We continue our celebration of the fine arts and performing arts during the month of April. Tonight sees the opening of the spring musical, The Music Man Jr., showcasing our students' talent and hard work. Next week introduces award-winning author, Jesmyn Ward, to the community, and celebrates The Sounds of Bishop Dunne, an extravaganza of strings, band, choir, and orchestra talent featuring the theme of childhood songs.

Bishop Dunne Literary Festival

Please join us for the inaugural Literary Festival April 16, through 18, 2018. The event begins on Monday with workshops and a reading by keynote speaker, and two-time National Book Award winner, Jesmyn Ward.

The Music Man Jr.: A Crazy Musical Journey by Corine Dorsey, '19
The Music Man Jr. directed by Nicholas Brandt, starring Robert Voigt and Julia Ramos, showcases the life of Harold Hill (Voigt), a traveling salesman and con-artist with an eye on defrauding the town of River City, Iowa. Amid his chaotic tendencies, the school librarian Marian Paroo (Ramos) and the town authorities must either recognize Harold's deceptions or be bamboozled by his schemes. Click here to read more.


Students Meet Renowned Journalist
On Friday, April 6, 2018, students in Latinos Unidos, College Ready Academy, and the National Hispanic Institute heard from world renowned journalist, Jorge Ramos, at the historical Texas Theater. Click here to read more.


Russian Olympiad at UT
On April 9, 2018, 22 students travelled from Bishop Dunne to UT Austin to compete in the Russian Olympiad. The 100 other students in the competition came from Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. Click here to read more.


Students Compete in TAPPS Art Competition 
Congratulations to Mrs. Allie Ramirez' art students who participated in the TAPPS art competition in Waco on April 10, 2018 and placed in many categories.  Click here to read the full story.


Senior Government Students Create Own Political Parties
Mr. Mike Kistner's government classes recently completed a project creating their own political parties. Working in pairs, the seniors chose a name for their parties, developed a tagline and a platform, and chose three people to run as their candidates for President, Senate, and House of Representatives. Falconette Spring Show
The Falconette Dance Team presents its spring showcase Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the gym. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door.

Sounds of Bishop Dunne Concert
On Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. in the Monsignor Milam J. Joseph Auditorium, the Bishop Dunne music department will hold its annual Sounds of Bishop Dunne concert. The theme for this year's concert is "Sounds of Childhood" and will feature music filled with energy, happiness, and nostalgia. Hear music from the past, as well as a new nostalgia filled work, "Frogs," by renowned composer Randall Standridge, commissioned by Bishop Dunne and other consortium schools.

Featured musicians for this concert include the Bishop Dunne jazz band, all Bishop Dunne concert bands 6 - 12, the Bishop Dunne string orchestras, the Sounds of Bishop Dunne choir, as well as student solos, ensembles, guest musicians, Director of Bands, Daniel Harrelson, on trombone, and more. National Honor Society Spring Applications

National Honor Society spring applications are now available to sophomores and juniors. Applications can be picked up in Ms. Matassa's room 417, or an electronic copy can be obtained by emailing All applications are due in hard copy by April 20, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. to Ms. Matassa in room 417 or to her box at the front office. Business Office Updates 
As we approach the end of the school year, all 2017-2018 family accounts with the school must be settled before transcripts and/or grades will be released. These accounts are due in full by Tuesday, May 15, 2018.

Tuition Payments
If you plan to use the Texas Dow Employee Credit Union for payment of tuition and fees (excluding the registration fee), the first payment will be due on July 5, 2018 to get a 10 or 12-month loan and the lowest monthly payments. The TDECU forms are available within the 2018-2019 school enrollment contract for your convenience. The TDECU forms are due April 16, 2018 to Ms. Brooks in the school business office. Please turn these forms in to us as soon as possible. This will allow the school and Credit Union sufficient time to process requests and mail the required payment information to you.

2018-2019 Tuition
If you plan to pay the upcoming year's tuition by cash, check or credit card, all tuition and fees are due June 15, 2017.

TDECU Loan Rates
Once again Bishop Dunne is happy to announce low credit union loan rates for our parents. Low rates are available if forms are completed by June 15, 2018. Eligible families can get a low interest rate of 4%; a 5.5% rate for families that do not qualify; and after June 15th, all loans will be at 6.5%.

Volunteer Opportunities
Please log in to your Track it Forward volunteer account to view volunteer opportunities that can help you fulfill the required 40 volunteer hours. On the Track it Forward volunteer system you can also view your total volunteer hours accumulated. Baseball and softball could use your help. We appreciate all the time and support given to the school's volunteer program.


¡Sabor Latino!

The Spanish Honor Society together with Dunne en Español and Latinos Unidos presents Sabor Latino, a celebration of Spanish language, culture, and talent. The event will start with a taco fundraiser in the cafeteria at 5:00 p.m. At 6:00 p.m., student performances will begin in the auditorium. Students are invited to showcase their talent by singing, dancing, reciting poems, and performing skits. We will also have a fashion show featuring Bishop Dunne quinceañeras, damas, and chambelanes. There will also be a grito contest. Students can sign up to participate online or by stopping by room 412. Auditions will be April 17, 19, and 20 from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in room 412.
