Meet our new faculty and staff
MIRANDA GILLIAM
English Department Chair
NHS Moderator Miranda Gilliam has been an English teacher for 20 years. She is a graduate of UT Dallas, where she earned a BA in sociology and a Master of Arts in Literary Studies. Miranda is an avid runner, and a coach for the run-walk training program with the Dallas Running Club. She's currently training for the 2019 Chicago Marathon. Miranda and her husband, Michael, live in East Dallas with their two dogs and their cat. She and Michael enjoy traveling and listening to records. She is super excited about joining the BD's faculty.
ELIZABETH HUDSON
Director of Guidance and Counseling Elizabeth Malveaux-Hudson is a Texas state-certified school counselor and Ph.D. with a Doctorate of Philosophy in Counseling Studies. She is a passionate academic school counselor, committed to helping each student fulfill their potential. Elizabeth has served in schools across Texas since 1999. She is member of American School Counselor Association and past member of Collin County Junior League. She is also dedicated to giving back to the community and has volunteered for nonprofit organizations and workshops in Garland and Plano Texas.
CHRIS OWENS
Head Boy's Basketball Coach Chris Owens is a University of Texas at Austin graduate, who brings a vast knowledge of basketball experience. He has a rich history of playing and coaching on every level from the NBA to Europe, where he first began coaching, while playing. He has spent the last four years as an assistant varsity coach at Shelton High School. His vision is not only to help young men develop basketball skills and talent, but to give them, the skills, and tools to be productive citizens in our community.
KATHRYN PERRY
Marketing and Communication Kathryn Perry joined Bishop Dunne in June, as Marketing and Communication Specialist. She came from corporate America, most recently with BNSF Railway and British Telecom. She has extensive marketing and communications experience in both domestic and global environments and brings a full range of expertise in print and digital communication, social media, and creative design. Her external vision for Dunne is to re-engage the community with the school, while internally streamlining effective, engaging communications. Outside the school day, Kathryn volunteers with special needs groups, and enjoys photography, fitness and travel. She is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, where she is an active volunteer for various groups and committees. Middle School Cheer Camp Rescheduled Middle School Cheer Camp originally scheduled for Aug 1-3, 2019, is being RESCHEDULED to a future date to be determined. Band Opportunities Calling all that love music!
The Bishop Dunne Music program is looking for members. We welcome musicians of all levels from beginner through advanced, as well as members of our color guard, or flag line.
Make music with the bands or strings, join the most energetic force on Friday nights with the marching band, join us on our award-winning trips to places like New Orleans, Disney World, and Houston with the concert ensembles, celebrate the musical history of American music with the Jazz Band or learn to twirl a flag. Summer Reading and Assignments Summer Reading book lists and assignments for math and world language classes have been posted to our summer website. These assignments were designed to help keep your academic skills sharp over the summer and be best prepared for the upcoming school year. When purchasing your summer reading books, we recommend using Amazon Smile. A portion of your Amazon purchases will be donated back to Bishop Dunne.
New Uniform Information
St. Vincent de Paul Donation Box Bishop Dunne has a donation box on campus. It is located in the south parking lot by the recycling bins. The box accepts only gently used clothing and shoes items. If you have other items that you wish to donate, please schedule a donation pick up online. Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international organization made up of Catholic lay men and women, whose primary mission is to seek the face of Christ in the poor.
