GOOD TO KNOW Emerson Lawrence wins Middle School Spelling Bee After over twenty rounds of competition, the top three spellers were; third place Sydney Moultrie (7), runner-up Lauren Singer (8) and our champion Emerson Morris (7).
Emerson and Lauren move on to the Diocesan Spelling Bee at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic School in Plano, Texas on Jan. 23!

Honor Roll presentations and breakfasts At the start of each semester, all students who achieve Honor Roll status from the previous semester are acknowledged at an honors presentation and breakfast.

Students who participate may have a "dress up" out-of-uniform day, as long as they follow school regulations for such days. This breakfast is for any returning student who received Honor Roll recognition from the fall 2019 semester.

Paul R. Wood retirement celebration Please join faculty, alumni, staff and students to honor Paul R. Wood, long time employee, faithful supporter and 1972 graduate of Bishop Dunne.
His service will be celebrated on Jan. 31, 2020, at 3:30 p.m. in the Bishop Dunne library. So we may prepare appropriately, please RSVP for this event here.

Thank you to all contributors from National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) toiletry drive! Many thanks to all NJHS members and all Bishop Dunne community members for your contributions to our NJHS travel size toiletry drive. We donated over 1,000 toiletries as well as 60 individual size snacks. Children's Medical Center is very appreciative of these donations.

No tuition increases next school year! The Bishop Dunne Catholic School Board of Directors voted unanimously to freeze tuition for the 2020-2021 school year for both Middle School and High School.
Flu Season is in full force! The Texas Department of health and Human Services reports widespread and increasing flu activity in our state. Please take time to do some illness prevention in your classroom.

Middle School Tennis Practice begins Monday, Jan. 13, 4:00 p.m., at Kiest Tennis Center (2324 W. Kiest Boulevard, Dallas, TX 75224). Look for us on courts #9-12. Bring your racquet and water.
Volunteer Spotlight - Mrs. Bridgett Benson A familiar sight working concession at the varsity football games is Mrs. Bridgett Benson. She started as a volunteer and for the last three years has taken on a leadership role while assisting volunteers to run a smooth concession. We send a big thank you to Mrs. Benson for her time and support. Q&A with Mrs. Benson Why do you volunteer at Bishop Dunne? "I enjoy helping out. Being in concession gave me an opportunity to interact with many of the students and their families."
What makes Bishop Dunne a special place? "The atmosphere feels like home and family."
What is your favorite memory of volunteering at Bishop Dunne? "I really don't have a favorite memory. I have enjoyed every minute, even when we could not find the warmer and had to use crock pots...lol

Dunne for a Change REMINDERS Dads' Club Meeting The next meeting will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, at The Local Oak, 409 N. Zang Blvd, Dallas, 75208.
Wednesday isn't the usual meeting evening, however basketball and soccer games scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays over the next few weeks necessitated the change. Thanks again for all of your work and let's have a great start to 2020 for our Dads Club!
No cafeteria breakfast service Jan. 14-16 To accommodate the parents and students attending Honor Roll breakfasts, Jan. 14, 15 and 16, regular breakfast service is cancelled. It will recommence on Friday, Jan. 17.

St. Vincent de Paul Donation Box Bishop Dunne has a donation box on campus. It is located in the south parking lot by the recycling bins. The box accepts only gently used clothing and shoes items. If you have other items that you wish to donate, please schedule a donation pick up online. Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international organization made up of Catholic lay men and women, whose primary mission is to seek the face of Christ in the poor.
