Their commitment shows in many ways, including mapping and data collection projects for the city of Dallas, the Dallas Police Department, and the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center. Bishop Dunne students attend DFW Interscholastic Colloquium at ESD Monday, February 3, 2020, junior Elizabeth Meyer and nine other students from Bishop Dunne attended the DFW Interscholastic Colloquium at ESD. Elizabeth was invited to read her essay, "Injustice in the Form of Words", and then sit on a student panel to discuss Clint Smith's Counting Descent. Throughout the day, our students visited sessions where they and other students from private schools from the DFW metroplex shared their original works, all inspired by Counting Descent. We concluded the day listening to Smith read and discuss his poetry. All had an inspirational time. Attending students included:

Students can win prizes for Top Seller and for selling the winning raffle ticket and any student selling 5 tickets will be awarded a free dress pass. Click here to see: prize rules for student prizes.

To ensure students receive credit for tickets sold, and to be eligible for prizes, the student's name must be written on the back of the ticket stub. Please note: raffle tickets purchased online will not be eligible for student prize awards. Only tickets purchased directly from a student with the student's name on the back of the stub will be counted towards student prizes.

Coming Soon! Mission trip coffee sales fundraiser Bishop Dunne students attending the 2020 Costa Rican Diocesan mission trip will be hosting a special coffee Sales Fundraiser:
All proceeds go directly to the students for their mission trip!
Look for the coffee stand just beyond the main drop-off area across from the 100 hallway (the north side of the school).
Come out and support them! All donations will be gratefully accepted! Thank you for helping make this mission trip possible for our wonderful students! NHS holds second annual Hygiene Drive Join Bishop Dunne and Woodrow Wilson High School's National Honor Societies this February as we launch our second annual Hygiene Drive. Our goal is to show love this month by addressing the health inequity in our community, one hygiene item at a time. Please help us by donating toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, and mouthwash. These items will be donated and distributed to individuals in need in our Southern Dallas community. Students can earn service hours for giving items (10 items= 1 hour, maximum of 2 hours). Please drop off your donated items to Mrs. Gilliam's room, 410, through Feb. 28.

Black History Month 2020 The African American Awareness Student Organization is excited to celebrate Black History Month with our Bishop Dunne community. Black history is America's history and since 1976 the U.S. has been acknowledging February as Black History Month as a means to celebrate the amazing achievements and contributions that African-Americans have had on our society. More than 200 tickets sold and the drawing for the winning ticket took place during Catholic Schools Week.
Dads Club part of Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Parade Dads Club is participating in the parade, standing in a trailer attached to David Cardoza's truck. Look for the Dads Club banners! We will be throwing Mardi Gras beads playing as well. It will be a fun time! The parade is Sunday, Feb. 23 and starts at 4:00 p.m. More details to come next week!

High School winter sports athletic banquet The High School winter sports athletic banquet will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Winter sports include: boys' basketball, girls' soccer, boys' soccer, swim, and wrestling. Admission will be $8 for adults and $4 for children. Student athletes receive complimentary admission, but must register. Register/buy tickets here.

Middle School girls basketball continues winning streak Bishop Dunne Middle School girls basketball team continued their winning streak this past weekend with wins over The Highlands School and St. Joseph Jaguars. The team, now at 5-0, is working on an undefeated season as they approach the last three games. Come cheer them on at their next game, Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1:00 p.m., at Bishop Dunne. St. Vincent de Paul Donation Box Bishop Dunne has a donation box on campus. It is located in the south parking lot by the recycling bins. The box accepts only gently used clothing and shoes items. If you have other items that you wish to donate, please schedule a donation pick up online. Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international organization made up of Catholic lay men and women, whose primary mission is to seek the face of Christ in the poor.
